Selling Your Dream Vehicle is Tough...

For some a vehicle can just be a mode of transportation to get them from point A to point B. For others a vehicle can be their pride and joy, part of their identity, their passion. I fall somewhere in the middle of this spectrum and I sold Betty Blue today and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

I wouldn't consider myself a car person by any stretch of the imagination but I have dreamed about having a Honda CRV for a good decade. I made that dream a reality in May of 2017 by purchasing a 2015 Certified, Pre-Owned Honda CRV EX from the dealer! I felt so accomplished. It was my vehicle that I had purchased after I
worked so hard to become debt free (this was prior to getting married). I owned her free and clear. She had all of the accouterments I wanted and then some!
Prior to Betty Blue I always had a hand me down or over-a-decade old car. I so badly wanted an SUV that would hold all of the gear, offer ample space for passengers and drive like a dream. Some of you may be chuckling at this description, but for me, my Honda CRV was this.

Now that my husband, Jake, and I have decided to quit our jobs and travel full time, it doesn't make sense financially to keep the vehicle. We are starting this new chapter of our lives together by doing a thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail and then we will be purchasing a diesel truck and 5th wheel trailer. I wouldn't want to store beautiful Betty Blue nor would I want to risk having something happen to her if we didn't store her.

Jake and I are working so diligently to become debt free as a married couple before we hit the road and travel full time. The goal is to STAY debt free while on the road. So we are simplifying our lives as much as possible before we go. Though it was very bitter sweet to hand the keys over to a stranger, I know that the sale of her signifies a new chapter in my life.

Now my husband and I will share a vehicle for the next 3-1/2 months before we leave the lovely Black Hills of South Dakota and head over to Georgia to start our 2,190 mile backpacking journey to Baxter State Park in Maine!

So I raise a glass to you Betty Blue, for all the memories and fun trips! May your new owner love you as much as I did!
