Main Street Square

In heart of Downtown Rapid City is Main Street Square, an open civic space that is for the enjoyment of area residents and tourists to the Black Hills.  It is a fun-filled public space that features special events, arts and culture, live concerts, seasonal ice skating and interactive fountains. Surrounding the space is boutiques, eateries and galleries.

One of the activities they offer in the winter months is an outdoor ice skating rink! It is such a cute place to bring your kids, go on a date, or just get a little exercise.  In the summer months, there is a water fountain where kids can play in when it is hot! ​There are events at Main Street Square throughout the year as well:

Frühlingsfest and Spring Market
A spring beer tasting event with live music, a variety of market vendors and local artisans.
​Art & Wine Festival
For wine lovers, this is a fun event to try different wines and to shop some local vendors.

Crusier Car Show & Street Fair
I have not been to this event but it is always very well attended. I plan to go this year and check it out!

[Love]² Bridal Fair
This is a great bridal fair to attend! I went in August with my mom and had a really good time! Keep an eye out for upcoming blog posts about wedding resources throughout the Black Hills.

Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival
This is such a fun event...no matter your age! There is a pumpkin catapult, giant pumpkin weigh-off, pumpkin chef challenge, pumpkin carving contest and great local vendors.

Bierbörse
This is one of my favorite events of the year! It is a little pricey for a ticket but well worth it if you are a connoisseur of beer! There are TONS of microbrews to sample from breweries from all over the Midwest. In addition, there is a beer stock exchange, homebrew demonstrations, polka music, and authentic German food. Keep an eye out for my upcoming post detailing my experience at this great event last Fall!

Holiday Celebration and Winter Market
A festive celebration offering shopping from local vendors, a tree lighting ceremony, ice skating, holiday music and a visit from Santa Claus. There is also the Festival of Lights Parade that evening that goes throughout Downtown Rapid City. These two events are very well attended so plan accordingly!

One of my favorite activities at Main Street Square is the Summer Nights concerts! From June to August, every Thursday night, there are different live bands, kids' activities, food vendors, and a variety of refreshments in the beverage garden. The series is free to attend!
