Angostura Recreation Area

If you are looking for a beautiful place to take your family for some lake time, Angostura  Recreation Area is a great option! Located at the southeast edge of the Black Hills on the Cheyenne River, 10 miles southeast of Hot Springs off US Hwy 385/18. This reservoir has a lot to offer, with beautiful sand beaches, great camping spots, boating, fishing and much more!

In 1949 a dam was built by the Bureau of Reclamation across the Cheyenne River for irrigation purposes.  Over time, a recreation area was developed to what you now see today. 

​This is definitely a destination ​in the Black Hills and it is a hopping place to be at in the summer. so plan accordingly when you are deciding when to come and visit
