- Tissue Paper - Small picture frame with picture of the parents to be - Small items to decorate the cake I started by rolling up a whole slew of baby diapers with a rubber band. Don’t use pins because then the diapers are worthless for the parents to be able to use later. Then I put the bottom layer together by wrapping the diapers with the tulle and then adding more diapers until the base layer became the size I wanted. The tulle worked splendidly because it held the diapers in place and you can’t really tell it’s there. Then I started the next layer the same way. The cider bottle is not only a great center support for the cake but it’s a fun suprise for the parents when they get home! I found that a three layer cake worked perfectly for the 176 diapers I had purchased. I only had about 30 left over and I put them in a gift bag with tissue paper to give as part of their gift as well. After the shape of the cake was made I was ready for the best part...decorations! I put two different ribbons on and made sure I hid the rubber bands on the diapers.
Then I played around with the other decorations I bought to see what I liked the look of the best. I find layering is always a good option! Just remember to have fun with the decorations and buy more than you think you will need. It is better to have to return stuff than run out. Blog post written by Amy Karras Unnamed Adventures
