We are Thru-Hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2019!

Well it’s official, starting in the early spring of 2019, Jake and I along with our 1 year old rescue dog, Sammy, will begin our 6 month journey on a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. We will go northbound (NOBO) from Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia and work our way through 14 states and end in Baxter State Park in Maine! The trail is 2,190 miles and we estimate it will take us 139 days to complete excluding setbacks due to injury, sickness or weather. We are ramping up this fall to quit our jobs next year and start traveling full time. 

We wanted to launch this next chapter of our life by doing a thru hike on the Appalachian Trail since this has been on both of our bucket lists for years!

We will start a podcast before we go. Once we are on the trail we will daily (or as often as possible due to internet issues on the trail) share episodes about our journey on the AT with our dog! We will also post weekly blog articles with pictures about the journey as well since we plan to be in town once a week to resupply.

We are so excited to begin the next stage of our journey! We will be debt free before we go so we are pumped to be able to live a non-traditional career lifestyle where we can encourage others to "Find Your Unknown."

As we have begun our planning we have been diligently reading forums and speaking with others who have completed the trail to learn more about how to best prepare for this life changing journey. We are choosing to quite our jobs and start a lifestyle where we travel full time, debt free, pursuing our dreams! With that in mind we have reached out to over 100 gear, food and dog companies of all sizes and from across the world for support on our thru hike.
